The club currently follows two modular standards. Club members also own their own layouts. Please contact us if you would like to book any of them for your own model railway exhibition.
Our original modular system, originating from the American N-Trak system, started with a three track system, then had a fourth track added.
A large modular circuit makes quite a spectacle, with four trains on the move. At exhibitions, we may try and keep to a theme, but other times anything goes - watch Thomas overtake the Japanese bullet train!
The N-club modular system is double-tracked, and designed to be a more flexible system than N-mod.
We are just starting to work to this system, and junction and transition boards allow us to link N-mod and N-club systems together.
This is the modular system on display at Stuttgart.
The Alpenbahn modular system was the brainchild of ESNG and modelled a length of open main line in alpine Germany. A number of members contributed modules to the system and Alpenbahn made a number of successful exhibition appearances.
The Alpenbahn system is now being developed privately by club members and is still available for exhibitions.
We have also built two club layouts. One, Dreibruken, was been a great success and has been widely exhibited.
Unfortunately, the ‘old lady’ is now past it and has reluctantly been retired. The other, Reigate, was less successful, but we learnt a lot in the process!
